The story
Five years after her divorce, Chloe Sterling receives a package from her ex-husband, Liam Thorne. Inside is an old diary, filled with words he could never say to her face. She opens it while getting her son Leo ready for preschool, and the past comes flooding back.
Raised as the younger daughter of the Sterling family, Chloe grew up alongside Liam. She loved him hopelessly, even after he married her only to keep family interests intact, and even after she found him kissing her sister, Willow Sterling. The diary pages reveal his old contempt, his cruelty, and the accident on the cliffside road that cost her a kidney.
Yet among the entries are words she never expected: pleas for her to come back, and a confession that he was wrong. Chloe must decide what his last words truly mean to her now.
