The story
Nora has been accepted into Juilliard, the world's top music conservatory. But her father burns the acceptance letter, her mother binds her with rope and stabs her, and together they throw her into a septic tank, where she dies. Then she opens her eyes again on the very day the letter arrived, reborn with her memories intact.
This time her father demands the letter, urging her to give up music and attend a nearby community college. When she refuses, she smashes a vase over his head and flees to Ashley's apartment, hoping her sister will help her. But her mother intercepts her, and Ashley, learning of Juilliard, turns on her too, ordering her to tear the letter up.
Betrayed by the family she trusted, Nora is determined to uncover the truth behind their hatred before they can kill her again.
Opening
I got accepted into Juilliard, the world's number one music conservatory. But my father burned my acceptance letter to ashes. My eyes wide with disbelief, I asked him in a trembling voice why he’d done it. He clamped his hands around my throat, veins bulging on his forehead.
"You damned wretch don't deserve to go to such a good school!"
