The story

Tally rushes home from work to retrieve forgotten documents for her boss, Ryan, only to find her fiancé, Blake, in bed with another woman. Devastated, she photographs the betrayal, refusing to let him deny what she has seen. The discovery echoes the affair she once witnessed as a teenager, when she walked in on her father and his secretary, and it hardens her resolve to walk away.

At the office Christmas party, Tally drinks too much and ends up in bed with Ryan, the man who is her father's biggest rival. His proposal of marriage stuns her even more than the night they shared. Tally has spent years hiding her family's wealth and name, determined never to be controlled by her father again. Now the man she works for wants to marry her, and she must decide whether to trust him or run.

Opening

As soon as Tally stopped off the bus, she raced down the path. Her heels echoing on the sidewalk in sync with the beating of her heart as she hurried to the townhouse she shared with her fiancé, Blake. She couldn’t believe she had been so stupid as to leave the documents that her boss needed for this afternoon’s meeting at home.
