After untying the good luck constitution for her husband, he regretted going crazy.

Anya Reed was born a wellspring of good fortune: simply being married to her amplified her husband's luck. Julian, a magnet for bad luck, owed his immense business empire and his place as the wealthiest man in the world to her. Yet when he was diagnosed with a terminal illness, he had her brutally beaten and left at a desolate tombstone, confessing he had only ever loved Seraphina, an intern doctor, before plunging a knife into her heart.

Anya wakes on the very day Julian became the nation's wealthiest man. Watching him coldly dismiss Seraphina, she calmly tells him to stay, and this time she refuses to play the jealous wife. She sees through his calculated affection and his talk of a celebration party, knowing he only ever wanted her body and her luck.

Then a hospital call brings hope for Grandma Helen's kidney surgery, and Julian's empty reassurances leave Anya uneasy. The operation ends in an unexpected rejection reaction, and the doctor tells her to prepare for the worst.
