The story
After her husband dies on a mission, Lynda Hayes collapses and wakes with no memory, clinging to Joshua Coleman, her twin brother-in-law. The doctor warns that any shock could harm her, so Joshua and his mother, Samantha Jenkins, beg his wife, Tiffany, to let him play the stand-in husband until Lynda recovers. Tiffany agrees, and Joshua and Lynda live under one roof while Tiffany's daughter, Natalie, watches her cousin call him Daddy.
When Natalie falls dangerously ill, Tiffany begs Joshua to take them to the hospital, but Lynda flies into a rage and threatens suicide. In the chaos, Lynda's swinging scissors strike Tiffany in the heart. Tiffany opens her eyes to the day Joshua first agreed to the role, and the same pleas from Joshua and Samantha reach her ears. She realizes she has been given another life, and this time she will not stop him.
She plays along, accepting money from Samantha, while she quietly plans to protect Natalie and free her from this family. In the ward, Lynda's provocations and Joshua's fumbling care only harden Tiffany's resolve.
Opening
When she woke up, she'd lost her memory. She clung to my husband and refused to let go. Our husbands were twin brothers.
The doctor said she couldn't be triggered, so my husband and mother-in-law sat me down and begged me to play along until she got over this.
Every time I brought it up again, they shut me down. "This is only until she gets her memory back!"
So I watched as my husband and his widowed sister-in-law eat, sleep, and live under the same roof.
Even our daughter could only stand by and watch her cousin call him "Daddy".
