The story
Lily has limped since childhood, her right leg injured when she saved her childhood sweetheart, James Parker, from a fall. Everyone calls her lucky because James, a handsome and gifted athlete, stays devoted to her, draping every medal he wins around her neck and promising to be her legs. She believes him completely.
At university, James begins playing mixed doubles with Emma White, and their chemistry on court unsettles Lily. When Emma casually lifts James's drink at a celebration, Lily's composure cracks. James dismisses her worries, insisting Emma is only a teammate. Then, after another victory, Lily finds James in a hidden corner accepting Emma's kiss, his medal now resting against hers.
Lily's leg aches as she watches the boy who once pledged himself to her choose someone else. The trust she built over a lifetime begins to shatter.

I have a limp, a result of an injury I sustained while saving my childhood sweetheart when we were young. Despite being treated differently because of my disability, James Parker, my childhood love, promised to always be good to me. I believed him wholeheartedly.
