The story

When Evelyn Morrison's husband Evan dies in a drunk-driving crash, his death shatters their son Joshua's dream of a military academy and drags the family company into a tax investigation. Then a young woman named Tracy Lewis arrives at the door with an infant, claiming the child is Evan's son and demanding the estate.

Tracy pushes her claim at the company, and Evan's brother James Morrison offers to take the paternity test in Evan's place. Evelyn agrees, with the shareholder Henry as witness, though she questions why Evan was driving James's car the night he died.

Evelyn suspects a scheme behind Tracy and James, and waits for the test results to expose it.

Opening

My husband, Evan Morrison, was killed in an accident. The bimbo mistress, Tracy Lewis, showed up with her illegitimate son, demanding to inherit the estate.

I asked, "But he's turned to ash. How can you prove their blood relation?"

Evan's brother, James Morrison, volunteered. "I can take the paternity test for Evan instead."

I laughed, "I'm just waiting for you to walk right into the trap."
