The story
On her wedding day, Anna's groom, Sean Boswell, abandons the ceremony the moment Janet Singer calls, leaving Anna humiliated before the guests and their families. When Anna threatens divorce, Sean dismisses her anger as antics and rushes to Janet anyway.
Stranded in her wedding gown, Anna faces her mother's blame and her in-laws' coldness, while Sean neither calls nor returns. Pregnant and alone, she begins to doubt the vows he once made her.
Then, on her wedding night, kidnappers seize her and torture her until she suffers a miscarriage. Begging Sean to save her, she hears only his laughter and his accusation that she is faking the kidnapping to win him back.
Opening
On my wedding night, Sean Boswell was with his first love when I suffered a miscarriage as my kidnappers tortured me.
I begged endlessly for him to save me, only for him to laugh, "You were just demanding a divorce in the morning, and now you're faking a kidnapping so that I'd come back? Is that the only thing you can do?"
Eventually, when I gave up and stopped clinging on being Mrs. Boswell, he chased me to the airport, pleading with a crack in his voice, "Just stay, Anna. Let's make things how it used to be."
