The story
After her fiancé dies in an earthquake, Sandra Lane is taken in by his older brother, James Stork, who keeps his deathbed promise to care for her. For five years he treats her like a precious little sister, until one drunken night together leaves her pregnant. Hoping to share the news, she instead walks in on James with his one true love, Jane Lennox, and is sent away to a hotel like an errand girl.
Humiliated, Sandra aborts the baby alone, repays what she owes James, and signs up for a medical aid team bound for Africa, booking a flight seven days out. When another earthquake strikes, James pounds on her door in panic, but the marks on his neck and Jane's tearful call betray where his heart truly lies.
As he carries her off against her will, Sandra must decide whether the home she once believed in was ever hers at all.
