The story
On the day her mother-in-law Helen Carter is diagnosed with stomach cancer, Grace Miller's in-laws pressure her own mother to sell her house to pay for the treatment. Her mother quietly sells the house and moves into a leaking old farmhouse in rural Montana, where she dies after it collapses on a stormy night while the Carters lock their door against her. Grace burns the house down with them inside.
She wakes back on the day she finished her physical exam, remembering everything. This time she tells them her mother has stomach cancer, and when her husband Michael finally divorces her, Helen receives a call from the hospital. Grace moves first, arranging to sell her mother's house and keep the money from the Carters, then kneels in the hallway and tells the neighbors everything.
With the Carters' cruelty exposed to everyone watching, Grace must decide how far she will go to protect her mother.
