My Son’s Fiancée Thought I Was His Mistress

For years she has run the Vitale Family's empire from abroad, keeping it clean and quiet across the ocean. When word reaches her that her son Lorenzo intends to seal a bloodline alliance with Adriana Falcone, she flies home on the red-eye, overjoyed that the Vitale name may finally have a future. At supper in a Family restaurant, Lorenzo passes a photograph of the two of them to his circle, with a line calling her the most important woman in his life.

Adriana takes her for a rival's kept woman. On the day of the sit-down feast, she corners her at the salon with a pack of friends, slaps her, drags her by the hair and has her beaten on Family soil, then hauls her to the feast to humiliate her before every guest. Barely clinging to life, she looks up as Lorenzo finally arrives late, and tells him the alliance feast need not be held.

She had meant only to clear the misunderstanding between Lorenzo and the girl, and had an estate deeded as a gift for the bride she would welcome into the bloodline.
