The story

On the day his wife Lorena gives birth to twins, Blake Parker overhears her confess to her assistant Thomas that the babies have different fathers: one is Thomas', the other his. His mother, who hears it too, collapses and dies. Lorena then leaves for a recovery center, taking Thomas' child and abandoning Blake's son with him, while Thomas posts photos of the two of them as a family.

Blake buries his grief, hires a nanny and throws himself into a company project, only to watch Thomas claim his work as his own. Lorena backs Thomas without a moment's doubt, and the business partner turns on Blake in front of the whole room.

Humiliated and betrayed, Blake stands alone with a divorce in motion and a son his wife never wanted.

Opening

My mother and I were outside the delivery room when we accidentally overheard her talking to her assistant.

“Thomas,” Lorena said softly, “I gave birth to twins… but they have different fathers. The one with the birthmark on his hand is yours. The other is my husband’s.”

Thomas' voice trembled with disbelief. “Lorie, are you serious? That’s… impossible!”

“It’s true,” she confessed. “After that night with Blake, I slept with you several times. I wasn’t sure who the father was. So I did a DNA test. And the results... confirmed it. Twins. Different fathers.”
