The story
Chosen by a horror game, eighteen-year-old Linnet Graves is dropped into an S-Rank Supernatural Map as the owner of a small-town food stall in Pine Grove. Armed only with a set of F-Rank kitchen utensils and the ability to cook food that even ghouls can taste, she must play her role and survive five days without revealing that she is a player.
Her first customer is Jorvan Beeker, a mini boss with a 99% kill rate, who tests her cover with gossip about a neighbour's gruesome death. When a bloodstained bill betrays what she can see, he demands to know who she really is. Linnet answers by shoving a focaccia sandwich into his mouth, and the impossible taste of it stays his hammer.
Jorvan leaves with ten sandwiches and a promise to return tomorrow, still muttering that he will kill her then.
Opening
After being chosen by a horror game, I took over a food stall in a small town.
A ghoul tried to eat me, his huge, bloody mouth a gaping maw, but I quickly shoved a focaccia sandwich into it.
He chewed and then said, “Oh, forget it. With food to eat, I’ll kill her tomorrow.”
The next day, I made delicious pierogies, then skewers and stews.
All the ghouls who stopped by gave up on trying to kill me, focusing on eating instead.
The audience watching me was shocked that I could survive all the way to the end with…
