The story

On the courthouse steps, Julian Vance pushes a divorce settlement across the table to his wife, Evelyn. She may keep the house, the savings and the car; Astra Tech, the company they built together from a run-down studio apartment, stays with him. He insists she cannot run a business and that he is thinking of the employees. Beside him waits Chloe Reed, once their head of administrative services and now the new lady of Astra Tech. Evelyn signs, and the pair drive off in Julian's black Porsche.

But Evelyn is not finished. Three messages wait on her phone: an anonymous investor with funding and a term sheet ready, Liam with servers deployed for a new company, and Joe with a product launch locked in for next Wednesday. Julian believes the corporate brand is the prize; the real Astra Tech lives in her head. Meanwhile he restructures the org chart, demotes loyal staff and lets Chloe's messages and social posts pile up.

At the Global Tech Summit, Julian warns her not to show her face. Evelyn simply asks whether he owns the summit, and promises the humiliation will not be hers.

Opening

"You keep the house. You keep the savings. You keep the car."

His voice was dead calm, as if he were haggling over useless scrap metal.

I stared at the very last clause:

"Astra Tech remains solely in the possession of the Husband. The Wife voluntarily surrenders all equity."
