The story
For five years, Cathy White has bent to Ben Smith's every whim, because only his family's hospital can keep her dying mother alive. When she refuses to cook for his friend Dora Wilson, Ben orders her mother's treatment stopped. Cathy kneels in the snow with a fever, calling him again and again, but he blocks her. Two days later her mother dies in pain, while Ben is in France with Dora.
After the funeral, Cathy returns to the villa for the painting her mother gave her. Ben and Dora are there, and Dora spills wine on the painting, then Ben pours wine over it and stamps it to pieces before Cathy's eyes, demanding she apologize. Cathy slaps Dora and refuses to bow. Ben threatens to withhold her mother's treatment, not knowing her mother is already gone.
With nothing left to hold her, Cathy walks away from the man who broke her.
Opening
Just because I refused to cook a meal for his friend Dora Wilson,
Ben Smith forcibly interrupted my mother's treatment.
I knelt in the snow all night with a high fever.
That night the hospital issued a critical illness notice. I called Ben over and over again, but he blocked me.
Two days later, my mother died from the pain because she didn't get timely treatment.
Dora posted a photo of the two of them on her Moments with the caption: [If you can be with me for the rest of my life, I'm willing to wait for you.]
After the funeral, I calmly told Ben to broke up.
