The story
A twin hex-craft master from the Southern Highlands was born rotten, a killer feared by all. His gentle brother married into the wealthy Sanchez family three years ago. Now the brother's body returns in a battered coffin, tortured to death, and the corpse courier warns that Lloyd Manning's last words were to never cross the Sanchez family. But word is that Lloyd's widow, Naomi Sanchez, is marrying Myron Henson next month.
On the wedding day, the twin carries the coffin to the venue and declares no vows will be exchanged until the guests kneel before his brother. Naomi does not recognize him and mistakes him for Lloyd, scolding him for ruining Myron's day. Myron collapses in tears, and the guests mock the twin as country trash. Absorbing his brother's Natal Hex-insect, he has seen the truth: three years of beatings, a freezer, broken fingers, and a wife who forgot her oath.

I was born rotten. A killer, a skin-flayer, a terror to everyone within a hundred miles.
My brother was the opposite. Gentle. Kind. Three years ago, he married into the Sanchez family as a live-in husband, joining the wealthiest household in the region.
I never imagined the next time I'd see him, it would be his body, sent back to the Highlands by a corpse courier.
He was stuffed inside a battered coffin. Every fingernail had been pried off.
