The story
On the night of her wedding, Sloane Hale watches her fiancé Preston Hayes take a bullet, her brothers and father dragged to the docks, and the Hale women loaded onto a freighter bound for a cartel hub. In the cargo hold, her grandmother Eleanor Hale tells them the Hale women choose how they go out.
As Sloane lies bleeding on the floorboards, she hears the guards laughing through the thin walls. The raid was fake, the massacre staged. Preston lost a bet to Harper Hale and played along with her tantrum one last time. The men are alive; only the women will die for real.
Her spirit drifts back to the Hale estate, where Harper sits beside Preston in the crimson dress Sloane designed, the silver Colt M1911 he once gave Sloane resting in her hand.

The raid hit our wedding reception exactly as the diamond slipped onto my left ring finger.
Screams tore through the ballroom.
