The story
On the day she was to marry her true love, Damon Blackwood destroyed the venue and pulled her from the wreckage. Seeing her amnesia, he lied that he was her fiancé. For four years he loved her—until he grew bored, sliding off his wedding ring to stroke the belly of his young assistant, Blair Miller, and promising her a child while warning her not to let Viv find out. Blair sent the video herself, gloating that the old wife should step aside. But Vivian St. Clair had already recovered her memory—and before Damon, her love had been Rhys Kincaid.
Blair arrives pregnant with twins, demanding a showdown. Vivian responds with a lab report confirming a termination, and Damon kneels, swearing he only meant Blair to carry the baby for her. When thugs surround Vivian's car, Damon abandons his own to run to her, yet still defends Blair as a simple, genuine girl. Vivian calls her lawyer for a divorce agreement, shoves Damon out, and floors the accelerator as he stands in front of the car.
Opening
He found me in the wreckage and pulled me out with his bare hands.
Gazing at my dazed, amnesiac state, he carefully masked the raw ecstasy in his eyes and choked out a trembling lie: he was my fiancé. He was my love.
After that, Damon loved me for four whole years.
Then, he got bored.
He expertly slid off his wedding ring, his hand moving to gently stroke the belly of his young assistant.
“Give me a child, and your life is yours.”
“And of course, same rule as always—don’t let Viv find out.”
