A Child's Death, A Wife's Betrayal

When a five-year-old boy accidentally knocks over a wine glass belonging to his mother's first love at a banquet, his mother, Shena Collins, orders him sent alone to the Collins Family's isolated island for an heir trial. His father, Theo, begs her to bring the child back, but she refuses and stays close to Billie Morgan instead.

Five days later, Theo finds his son Bastian lying in the grass, swollen and lifeless from a snake bite. At the hospital, a doctor reveals the boy's stomach was full of roots and grass, and that he was severely malnourished. Hardy Collins, the family patriarch, is furious at Shena, yet she never answers his calls. When she finally phones Theo, she accuses him of faking the child's illness and warns that if Bastian cannot pass the trial in three days, he is no longer her son.

Returning to the mansion to pack, Theo discovers Shena and Billie together, and hears her say she never wanted Bastian as her son. With the eight-year agreement now over, Theo must decide what remains for him.
