The story
On the night they come of age, Annie Alfonso gives herself to George Costa, believing their union will bind their two powerful mafia families and secure her future. But the next day she overhears George on the phone, calling her nothing more than practice and admitting he truly wanted Julie.
Rather than weep, Annie refuses her place in the family empire and requests a transfer to the branch in Londres. Yet when her best friend Sophie sends photos from the Costa family banquet, Annie sees George and Julie together, and learns he is truly in love with Julie.
With her father furious and her heart breaking, Annie must decide whether to finally give up on the man she has loved for years.
Opening
On the night we came of age, George Costa and I finally took things further in our relationship.
Despite the physical discomfort that night, I was happy for a very long time. I genuinely believed that by taking this monumental step together, George and I were locking in our future.
