The story
Auren is the only son of Caelion, High King of the Three Realms, and Aurelia, goddess of the sun, and the rightful Divine Heir. Yet his nine sisters dote on Corvin, a lowly sparrow from the mortal world who has taken human form, and let him pass himself off as their brother. At the coming-of-age feast in Silvermere Palace, Corvin snatches the Atlas of Dominion from Auren's hands and vows to take his place on the throne.
But Auren has been sent back through time to that very day, remembering how his family once joined forces to murder him. He seizes the Atlas, summons the Crown of the First Sun, and strikes Corvin down before the assembled gods. His sisters, led by Seravelle and Elvarra, demand he beg the sparrow's forgiveness, and call for the Mirror of True Forms to expose him.
When Brannoc, God of War, raises the mirror, its reflection shows Auren as a scrawny, lame sparrow, and the hall erupts in outrage. Auren is left reeling, unable to understand what the mirror has revealed.
Opening
As their only son, I was meant to inherit my father’s throne. But my sisters became so absurdly infatuated with Corvin, a lowly sparrow from the mortal world who had assumed human form, that they allowed him to pass himself off as me.
Father held my coming-of-age feast at the Silvermere Palace. There, he presented me with the Atlas of Dominion.
Corvin had snatched it from my hands and sneered. “I will take your place on the throne.”
