The story
A forensic pathologist has always resented her elder child, blaming the child for her husband's death, and has doted instead on her son Ryan. When Ryan calls her in a panic after pushing someone down the stairs, she rushes to the scene and, without asking questions, cleans away the traces he left behind. She dissects the corpse herself, clearing the residue forced into its stomach and the flesh under its fingernails, then dumps the body with Ryan and swears him to silence.
What she does not know is that the unidentified body is her own child. The soul of the dead child floats above her, watching, crying out and begging her to stop, but no hand can touch the living. At home, mother and son laugh over new sneakers and a new phone as though nothing happened.
Then the police summon her to the station, and the decomposing body on the table bears every mark of what she has done.

My mother is a forensic pathologist and a mother of two sons. She resented me because of my father's death and became even colder after remarrying and giving birth to my brother, mistreating me at every turn. She even went so far as to personally dissect me to conceal evidence of my brother's crime when he became a murderer. What she didn't know was that the dead person was me.
