The story
Lara's son suffers a febrile seizure after the nanny, Nina, refuses to use the air conditioning in a sweltering apartment. Lara fires her, but her husband Michael blames her for Nina's hospitalization instead. When their son's fever spikes again, Michael pretends to take them to a hospital but flies them by private helicopter to the Arctic, where he strands Lara and the child in thin clothing with Nina at his side.
Michael's men jam her signal and strip them both, leaving the boy naked on the ice. Lara had texted her brother for help, but the message never sends. As her son's lips turn blue, Nina claims she is pregnant and that Lara threw her out knowing it, and Michael orders a polar bear released from its cage to punish them.
Bleeding and freezing, Lara tries to mask their scent with snow while Michael watches from the helicopter with Nina in his arms.
Opening
My son had a febrile seizure from a high fever. I rushed home to find the apartment at 115°F. The nanny, claiming to be cold-sensitive, had refused to use the AC. My son was rushed to the ICU.
I slapped her, paid her severance, and fired her.
That night, my husband Michael came home accusing me: “Lara! Was it worth giving Nina a chill by running the AC?
