The story
On the night of her engagement party, a wife is confronted by a small boy at her door who claims to be her son, traveled back eight years from the future. He warns her not to marry Landon Price: within two weeks she will be paralyzed in a stunt-wire accident, and he will ice her out until she jumps from her company's roof. The boy says Landon's true love is his agent, Sophia Collins, and leads her to Sophia's apartment, where Landon stands in sweats, tending Sophia's sick cat.
Landon vanishes for a week with Sophia, and his employees treat the wife as the other woman. When he returns to explain, Sophia wears his grandmother's heirloom locket, meant for his future wife. The wife has already sent his belongings to Sophia's address, and as he insists nothing will go wrong on their wedding day, she sees the lie for what it is.
Opening
The night of my engagement party, there was a knock on my apartment door.
A little boy stood in the hallway.
“Mom, I’ve traveled back from eight years in the future. I’m your son…”
My first instinct was to call the police.
But then, the boy’s tears splashed onto the marble floor.
