The story
Evelyn Hart has spent three sleepless nights perfecting a reception plan for a major client from Qamaria, only to discover a fatal error: the menu includes roast suckling pig, a dish strictly forbidden by the client's religious beliefs. If the client takes offense, the company stands to lose a $300 million contract and face industry-wide blacklisting.
Before she can act, her boyfriend Damian Blackwood and his childhood sweetheart Claire Sutton accuse her of stealing Claire's proposal. Damian threatens to end their relationship unless Evelyn signs a form naming Claire as the project planner and herself as the plagiarist. The office, moved by Claire's tearful performance, turns against Evelyn.
Evelyn signs without protest, knowing the truth: the proposal is a ticking time bomb, and Claire has just claimed credit for a disaster. As she prepares to deliver a public apology, she waits for the moment the truth will surface.
Opening
Unfortunately, I made a critical mistake in the middle of all that work. I completely forgot about the Qamarians' restrictions regarding the consumption of pork.
By the time I realized my blunder, the menu featuring roast suckling pig had already been submitted to the catering department and could no longer be recalled.
I slumped at my desk, my back drenched in cold sweat.
If the client took offense, not only would the $300 million contract fall through, but I'd likely also be blacklisted by the entire industry.
