Dating a Killer Online

A woman who earns her living as a "haunted house" test sleeper has spent six months in an online romance with Asher Flynn, a man she met in a true-crime chat group. He never shares his face, claims to be a top-tier assassin, and sends her money along with boasts of his kills. She answers with stories of pig slaughter from her family's farm, certain they are both only playing at the macabre.

Then Asher announces he will meet her in person, outside her apartment building. She never told him where she lived, yet he knows the address, because she posted it herself in the group the night before. With her year-long stay in the cursed building ending and a resident on the eighteenth floor hiring a cleaner, she goes down to look at the man who claims to be coming for her.

What she finds behind the open door makes her type a breakup message, and Asher's furious reply is a threat. In a group of seventeen self-styled Forensics Fanatics, she must decide how much of his talk is real.
