The story
Mia has always believed Adam, her husband, was kind to her. Then, before the New Year, she discovers a property he owns and finds him in bed with another woman. The woman asks Adam whether Mia knows he deliberately got her pregnant to use the baby's cord blood to save her, and Adam answers that Mia and her unborn child are nothing compared to her. Trembling, Mia calls Dr. Sterling and agrees to terminate her pregnancy and join a cryogenic experiment, though her mentor Alan reminds her that even with cancer there is still a chance.
Adam, the biological father, rushes to the hospital, slaps her and tears up the surgical notice, insisting the child will be born whether she likes it or not. Chesley Wade, standing nearby, presses Mia to explain herself, while Adam carries Chesley away and orders the driver to keep Mia watched at home. Mia remembers their agreement to be child-free, the IUD, and the pregnancy that cost her the research team, and she understands her child was always meant to prolong Chesley's life.
Opening
Before the New Year, I discovered that Adam, who had always been very kind to me, owned a property. I initially thought it was meant to be our new home for when we got married later in the spring.
Excited, I rushed over, only to witness him with another woman on the bed. She was gasping and the scene was shocking.
