The story

When Genevieve invites Mia on a mountain climb, an avalanche leaves Mia blind after she shields her friend. Her childhood friend Vaughn proposes, vowing to care for her forever, and Mia believes love has finally found her.

Then she overhears Vaughn and Genevieve: the proposal is compensation, and Vaughn admits he married her for her mother's money and connections. Worse, Mia has been diagnosed with end-stage renal disease and has only five months left.

Now blind, betrayed by the two people she loved most, Mia must decide what to do with the time she has left.

Opening

I risked my life for Genevieve and ended up losing my sight.

Out of the blue, my childhood friend Vaughn proposed to me, vowing to care for me forever.

I believed it was a sign of love until I overheard a conversation between Vaughn and Genevieve.

"Vaughn, it's my fault. If I hadn't insisted on playing in that snowy area, the avalanche wouldn't have happened, and Mia wouldn't have been hit by the debris."
