The story
After five years of marriage, Zachary Smith has turned the home he once shared with his wife into ninety-nine themed rooms for his affairs. She has endured it in silence, protecting the child in her womb, until the day he dresses her in a princess gown, shaves her head, and forces her onto the ski slopes as a human cushion for Lily. When Lily crashes into her, the fall costs her the baby — and Zachary sneers that she has lied more times than he has slept with her.
In the hospital, he throws a waiver of injury assessment onto her bed and a package of cash at her face, demanding she sign and stop pretending. His friends bet on whether the child would survive. She asks for a divorce; he swears she will only ever endure his torment, and threatens the grave of the brother she loved.
At the cemetery, Lily whispers that she crashed on purpose, and Zachary destroys the grave before her eyes. Numb and broken, she dials a long-unused number.
Opening
After five years of marriage, Zachary Smith turned our marital home into 99 themed rooms for his affairs. The models he brought back could open a nightclub in our house. I chose to turn a blind eye because of the child in my womb.
Later, he personally dressed me in a princess gown and took the dolled-up me to the hospital to shave my head bald.
