The story
Claire is a respected music critic whose world collapses when her younger brother, Luke, takes his own life after being falsely accused of plagiarizing the music of Layla's brother. Branded the sister of a plagiarist, she loses her reputation, while her husband Julian, a successful music producer, refuses to believe in Luke's innocence.
One evening Claire overhears Julian on the phone with Layla, confessing that the evidence was fabricated and that Layla's brother was the true plagiarist. Julian admits he chose to protect his friend's rising career over Luke. When her father dies of a heart attack, Claire resolves to avenge her family and bring Julian's company and reputation to ruin.
A message from Michael Beckham offers her the evidence she needs in exchange for something of her own, and Claire agrees, even as Julian continues to dote on Layla and demand that Luke apologize.
