The story
Chloe is home for the summer when she stumbles on a legal advice forum post from a burner account: someone posing as her is asking how to stop a manipulative cousin from inheriting her parents' estate. The cousin described is Chloe herself, and the poster is Ashley, the relative Chloe's mother took in and adores. Ashley is not content with a few hundred thousand; she wants everything.
At a tense family dinner, Chloe exposes Ashley's supposed study-abroad university as a diploma mill, and her mother's trust finally cracks. But Ashley's fury lands on her aunt, not on Chloe, and she keeps spamming the stranger who mentioned heir by proxy. Chloe opens her own burner account and offers a free consultation as a paralegal student.

[How do I prevent a manipulative cousin from inheriting my parents' money?]
I was confused. Her family lives in a double-wide trailer in Ohio. Why would she think I’d want a piece of that?
The comments were what you’d expect: reassuring her that a cousin has no legal claim, that she was worrying over nothing.
But then she replied, a little too eagerly:
[Are you sure? I mean, we're first cousins, practically sisters. That’s not a total stranger, legally speaking. Nothing’s ever 100%, right?]
And just like that, I understood.
