The story
For six years, Clara and her husband Elliott split every expense down to the cent, a system he called mutual respect and true equality. When Clara becomes pregnant, she pays for her own prenatal panel and attends appointments alone, while Elliott insists he is only helping her keep her independence.
Then a notification on his tablet reveals a VIP maternity plan registered the week she learned she was pregnant — mapped out for Lindsey, the young receptionist at his firm, who is expecting at the same time. Clara returns to the hospital, not for a checkup but for a termination, and faces the procedure without her husband beside her.
When Elliott refuses to come, citing Lindsey's intake appointment, Clara begins to question everything she thought their marriage was built on.
