The story
Diagnosed with stomach cancer, Maria Marsh hires an undertaker online so that her body will be collected and she can be buried properly. She packs her bags, leaves home, and waits for the end, believing that only a proper burial will let her rest in peace.
When she cuts her wrists and sends her location, the undertaker calls to cancel, offering a refund instead. With her blood soaking through her dress, she begs him to come, and he finally asks whether she is the one dying. He hangs up.
Scrolling through her phone, Maria finds her sister Lydia's birthday photos, taken on the same day as her own birthday. In the family group chat, she asks someone to come pick up her body, but her parents leave the chat, her brothers tell her to stop, and her eldest brother Aaron berates her for ruining Lydia's day. Alone in a dark corner, she realizes she has no home.
