The story
Virginia Simmons is carrying a seabed pipeline maintenance report to her fiancé, Rodney Sanchez, when warnings appear before her eyes: tonight at ten forty, two men will die in the sealed chamber, and the report used to send them down bears her name. Rodney's voice comes over the radio, gentle as ever, urging her to come sign it at once. The timing is too neat, like a knife being placed in her hand.
Virginia films the No. 3 chamber, has Clyde Lambert record the valve's state on camera, hangs a warning sign, and files her report before six. That night the isolation valve is opened before depressurization, and two workers are pulled into the pipeline. The circulating report now bears her signature, and Rodney publicly pleads her guilty while her stepsister Trudy Fox posts a pointed update. Suspended, Virginia must prove the report was altered before she is buried by the trap.
Opening
1: 1
I was carrying a maintenance report for the seabed pipeline, on my way to have my fiancé double-check it.
My hand had just closed around the door handle when a few lines of grayish-white text floated up in front of my eyes.
【Don't go in.】
【Tonight at ten forty, two men will die in the sealed chamber.】
【The report they use to go down bears your name.】
【Three days from now, the dead man's son will rush over and stab you to death.】
I stood in the corridor, the back of my shirt soaked through in an instant.
The radio crackled at the same moment.
