The story

Ava Ashford returns to the States as a titan of business, and her first act is to smash the art studio that was her brother Leo's entire life. She tears apart the family portrait he painted and screams for him to come out and fight her, but her hand passes through nothing. Leo has been dead for three years, and the paintings were his last gift to her.

Their war began long ago, when the Ashford fortune was lost and hatred peaked. Ava's body still carries the damage of their last battle, and she has never forgiven Leo for the family he was given: a mother, a father, and a brother named Noah. When a hidden videotape falls from behind the ruined portrait, Leo's voice returns to taunt her.

On the screen, Leo shows her the family he once imagined—and the date before he ever came home to the Ashfords. As Ava raises her fist to destroy it, she stops dead, her eyes wide with shock.

Opening

She hit me with her car, putting me in the hospital. I snuck into her room in the middle of the night and pulled the oxygen tube from her nose.

The year our hatred for each other finally peaked, the family went bankrupt.

We were forced into a truce, each of us left to fend for ourselves.
