I Won’t Be Part of His Bet with Her

Julian is insanely controlling. He won’t let his girlfriend Wren get her nails done, perm or dye her hair, or wear short skirts, and even makeup needs his permission. He claims he is just scared someone will steal her away, and because his ex-girlfriend once dumped him, she always gives in. Then she sees a post on X: a woman says she bet her ex that if he can date some plain, frumpy girl for three years, she will take him back. A photo in the comments shows Julian holding hands with his beautifully dressed ex, Cora.

Julian still photographs Wren daily and sends the pictures to Cora to prove he is enduring her. When Cora cuts Wren’s hair in the night as a party punishment, Julian only laughs and protects Cora, then runs after her when she storms out. Wren, who once studied fashion design, tells him to choose: let her cut Cora’s hair, or they break up. Julian refuses, and Cora calls Wren a woman with no self-respect. Wren decides she will no longer be a piece in their betting game.
