Love is an indescribable pain.

Elena Williams keeps a young male assistant, Ryan Miller, close beside her, even though her husband is the one who once stood at her side. When Ryan demands a pair of custom-made leather shoes bearing her husband's name, Elena indulges him, and her husband signs the bill and walks away. He knows what her devotion cost him before: his parents' company ruined, their lives lost, and a cruelty he cannot forget.

Given a second chance, he hands over the shoes without a fight and quietly makes a phone call to Sophia Johnson. He moves his parents overseas and takes over the family business while Elena showers Ryan with yachts, villas and a place in her home. She brings Ryan to live under the same roof, and the marriage she once kept at a distance turns colder still.

Searching her study for the document that once destroyed his family, he finds the wedding photo replaced and the password set to the day Elena and Ryan met. Elena asks whether she is poisoned by this feeling. He answers only that Ryan is an insignificant assistant, and keeps his own plans hidden.
