The story
Sofia Jones works long hours as a doctor to support her family, but her father-in-law Ethan accuses her of cheating because her daughter Cara does not resemble her husband Jack. A paternity test concludes that Ethan and Cara share no blood, and Ethan demands a divorce, urging Jack to cast Sofia out with nothing. Cara is locked in a dog cage, and Ethan offers her to Hans Black, a wealthy man known for drinking and abusing his family.
Sofia throws the paternity report involving Jack and Ethan back at them, telling them to see who is truly not blood related. Zoe Turner grows visibly anxious as the family insists on another test at a distant hospital. Sofia resolves to demand a divorce, but Jack still wants the test, and she fears the rumors may harm Cara.
Sofia must protect her daughter from a family that has already turned against them both.
Opening
My daughter and my husband didn't look alike at all. My father-in-law always complained about it, accusing me of cheating.
In the end, he even took my daughter to get a paternity test done. As expected, they were not blood related.
My father-in-law told his son to divorce me and not to give me anything.
My husband even wanted to kill my daughter by choking her.
