The story
On the morning of her wedding, Jules discovers that someone has shredded her twin sister Hailey's gown. Her husband Carter responds by taking Jules's own wedding dress and giving it to Hailey, insisting that Hailey deserves a flawless day and that the two sisters are identical enough for Hailey to walk down the aisle in Jules's place. When Jules objects, Carter and her mother pressure her to keep quiet and yield, as she always has.
Jules has spent her life surrendering everything to Hailey: her dolls, her trophies, even stepping aside when Hailey tried to steal Carter. Now her mother admits she knew about the dress, and Hailey stands before her still wearing it, offering to take it off only when challenged. When Jules demands it back, her mother slaps her and accuses her of humiliating her sister.
Jules drops her engagement ring on the table and asks for a divorce, refusing to yield her wedding, her dress, or her husband any longer.
Opening
But on the morning of the wedding, someone shredded her gown to pieces.
When my husband found out, he took my wedding dress and gave it to her.
The wedding coordinator was frantically calling for the bride and groom to line up. I was spinning in circles, tearing the bridal suite apart looking for my dress.
That was when my husband finally looked at me, a flicker of guilt in his eyes.
