The story
A wife takes her husband Jared Smith's place on a highland vacation, only to learn she has won a $50 million lottery. Racing home to share the news, she overhears him laughing with his mother, Mary Smith, about her supposed death by bear attack and their plan to take her money so he can marry his lover, Penny Lee.
She realizes she is wearing Penny's jacket, and that the bear killed Penny instead. Hiding, she unlocks Penny's phone and reads Jared's messages, learning he planted a scent packet in her jacket to lure the bear. At the hospital, Jared refuses to pay for the disfigured patient's care, then orders the abortion of her unborn child, believing it is not his.
When the patient stirs and tries to reach him, Jared slaps her, declaring he always loved Penny and only used his wife for his career. The wife watches, unseen, holding her secret.
Opening
My husband, Jared Smith, let me take his spot for a highland vacation.
After I departed, I found out that I won a random lottery that I had bought before for $50 million.
In order to not delay the redemption of the lottery ticket, I took a red-eye flight back home and wanted to share the news with Jared.
Before I went into the house, I heard his smug laugh.
