The story
Kaitlyn Hudson's marriage to Robert Bowen has collapsed. He has moved out, and his assistant, Bianca Strickland, is pregnant; he even brings Bianca to Kaitlyn's own hospital for a prenatal checkup. Then, in a corner, Kaitlyn is kissed by Robert's eighteen-year-old self, who has somehow appeared, still arrogant, domineering and devoted to her.
She hides the young Robert in her office, but the thirty-year-old Robert corners her at a fast food counter, counting the twenty-eight minutes she spent alone with the "brat" and mocking her order of all his favorite foods. Kaitlyn tells him she agrees to the divorce and will see him at the courthouse on Monday.
Outside in the winter cold, the eighteen-year-old Robert wraps his coat around her and hands her a warm mocha. As she tells him everything, he cannot accept that his older self betrayed her, and his fury grows.
Opening
When my husband, Robert Bowen, takes his assistant, Bianca Strickland, to a prenatal checkup, I'm being kissed by his 18-year-old version in a corner.
"You're already 30 years old, yet why do you smell so nice and taste so kissable? I love you so much, honey!
"By the way, where did my 30-year-old self go? Why didn't he come pick you up after work?"
