The story
Jelena has always been plump, mocked at school and overfed at home by a mother who insists she is perfect as she is. Then her mother suddenly produces special diet pills, and Jelena eagerly takes them, growing thinner day by day while her bedridden brother grows stronger. Only as she lies dying does she learn the pills were never for weight: they exchange lifespans, and hers has been poured into her brother.
When Jelena opens her eyes again, she is back on the day she first swallowed those pills, her mother smiling and urging her on. This time she hides the pills in her fingers, plans to swap them for harmless lookalikes, and turns her mother's own guilt and desperation against her. Her brother's life still hangs in the balance, and someone must pay the price.
A bullied girl with a second chance decides that the woman so eager to trade a daughter's years for a son's will be the one to make the exchange.
Opening
I've been plump since childhood, pampered by my mother's overfeeding.
As a result, I endured endless mockery.
Later, Mom specially bought me diet pills.
The effects improved day by day.
It wasn't until I died in bed from taking those pills that I realized the truth.
These pills were actually meant for my sick brother.
