My Wife Drugged My Milk to Save Her Ex

Asher Gilbert's wife, Regina Pruitt, has never been one to cook, yet she rises early to make him breakfast on the morning of the bid that will decide his company's future. When she pushes a glass of warm milk at him, a line of comments drifts across his vision, warning him not to drink it: there are sleeping pills in the milk, and Regina wants him to miss the bid so her childhood friend Sebastian Barnes can win it.

Asher sets the glass aside, and from there his wife's small kindnesses begin to look like maneuvers. She sends him out for painkillers, then bends over his briefcase; a neighbor, Ruby Lambert, shows him a photo of Regina house-hunting with a man who looks like Sebastian. Each time, the comments surface to tell him what she is planning next.

Regina insists she only went along to keep a friend company, and that the bid will be won on merit. But she keeps angling to ride with him, to stall him, to get her hands on his documents, and Asher must decide how far he can trust the woman beside him before the bid begins.
