The story
After failing to save Declan on the operating table, Theo's wife Nora blames him for the death of her first love. She ends her pregnancy, and though she later shields him from a lethal attack, she chooses to let go of life, saying she can finally be with Declan. Her father bars Theo from the morgue, and no one stands by him.
Returning to the past, Theo sets down the scalpel and offers his own heart to Declan, planning to receive an artificial one. The head nurse warns him the technology is immature, but he insists. When the surgery succeeds, Nora rushes to Declan, barely noticing Theo's pale state.
As Theo recovers, he asks Nora not to terminate the pregnancy, then offers her a divorce so she can be free. Nora insists her past with Declan is over, but her attention keeps returning to Declan's bedside.
Opening
She terminated her pregnancy with our child, her eyes blazing with anger. "You did it on purpose because he was my first love, didn't you?"
Yet later, when an aggressive patient's family came to confront us, she shielded me from a lethal attack.
I did everything to save her, but she chose to let go of life.
"At last, I can be with Declan..."
