The story
When turbulence strikes a plane high above the ground, the pilot, Kevin Glover, confesses his love over the intercom to his co-pilot, Serena Burke. His wife, Henley Johnstone, is on board and hears every word, along with her son, Isaac Glover, who declares he wants Serena as his mother instead.
Crushed by her husband's betrayal and her son's rejection, Henley contacts her assistant, Edith Pratt, and volunteers to become the test subject for a death-faking pill, setting the date of her death on her wedding anniversary. She discards the gifts she had prepared and turns away from the family that no longer wants her.
Kevin returns home reeking of alcohol, his neck marked with kiss marks, while Henley steels herself for the new life she intends to embrace.
Opening
Both of them come clean about their feelings for each other, not knowing that Kevin's wife, Henley Johnstone is on the plane as well.
The brimming affection in Kevin's tone hurts her ears.
