The story
For nine years, Meghan Clarke has built a life and a company beside Liam, her fiancé and business partner. But since Megan Clark joined Vanguard Digital six months ago, the two names — separated by a single silent letter — have been confused again and again. At the party celebrating their upcoming wedding, a banner congratulates Liam and Megan Clark, and Liam shields his young assistant instead of his bride.
He peels shrimp for Megan, walks her through the rain under his umbrella, and leaves Meghan to soak the shoulder still healing from surgery. When Meghan finally speaks, her silence is called bullying. The marriage license appointment is set for Friday morning, and Meghan's fingers hover over the cancel button.
Nine years of patience are running out, and one silent letter may be all that stands between Meghan and a life she no longer recognizes.
Opening
The latest time she "accidentally" mixed up our names was at the office party Liam’s partners were throwing to celebrate our upcoming wedding.
The bass from the speakers hummed through the floorboards of the private lounge as a massive vinyl banner was unfurled across the back wall. Someone read the bold print aloud over the noise.
"Congratulations to Liam and Megan Clark! Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness!"
