The story

A dying woman learns she has only days left. Her husband, Lucas, punches the doctor who delivers the news, refusing to believe it. But when she asks whether selling their company could buy her another month, his hesitation betrays him.

So she makes her own choice. She asks Lucas to grant her last wish: to find Olivia Vance, the old flame he once called out for in his sleep, and hand him over to her before the anniversary of his first confession of love. Lucas pales, denies everything, yet agrees.

The two set off together, and the journey ends at a cemetery.

Opening

I was sick.

The doctor frowned, shaking his head as he looked over the test results.

"If there are any loose ends you need to tie up, you should do it soon. It's only a matter of days now."

I stared blankly at the pale white wall, lost in thought.
