The story
On the night Lucas Wright proposes, Beatrice Cross takes the ten thousand his family pooled together and disappears. In her previous life she married him, and when cancer came in their second year, he sold their home and worked himself to the bone until he was a shadow of the man he had been. Given a second chance, she chooses to play the villain so he will never sacrifice himself for someone destined to die again.
Seven years later she is a wedding planner, and Lucas reappears with Selene Beaumont on his arm, offering her the job of planning their wedding. She names her price: forty-five grand, enough for a nicer burial plot. Selene hires her, and Lucas rejects her proposal seven times over, while a hospital text reminds her that her medication has arrived and the doctor has given her three months.
Planning the wedding of the man she loves and another woman hurts more than the cancer ever did.
Opening
In my previous life, I marry him with a heart full of happiness. However, in our second year of marriage, I'm diagnosed with cancer. From then on, he runs himself ragged, wasting away the best years of his life. In this life, I watch him fall apart, and I vanish from his world without ever looking back.
