The story
On the eve of the SAT results, a storm traps Rachel's son at school. She begs her husband Jason to drive her to him, but a call from his producer pulls him away. She goes alone and finds her son dead. When she finally reaches Jason, another woman answers, and she hears him call out to Rory, the ex he left her for. Rachel buries their son by herself.
Two weeks later she asks Jason for a divorce. He sneers, refuses to give up custody of Charlie, and claims he has found a doctor abroad who can treat him. Then the cemetery calls: the new owner wants her son's grave moved. Rachel arrives to find the headstone shattered and Rory clutching the urn, mourning a turtle. Jason shoves Rachel down and offers Rory the plot. When Rachel slaps him, his bodyguards force her to her knees, and the urn slips from her hands and breaks.
Twenty years of a merger marriage, and one plea was all she ever made.
Opening
Desperate, I pleaded with Jason to drive me to the school to pick him up.
But just as we were about to head out, he got a call from his producer that yanked him away.
Battling the storm alone, I went to fetch my son, only to be met with his dead body.
In a frenzy, I kept dialing Jason's number.
A flirty female voice answered, "Who's this, calling at such an ungodly hour?"
