The story
For five centuries, Molly has stood beside Clarence, the Vampire Prince, bound to him by blood and branded with the crest of the Thorne clan. She gave up the sun and her dream of being a painter for the mate who swore his love was eternal. Then the videos began arriving from Seraphina, a human stripper Clarence has taken as his new blood doll, and the truth of his betrayal is shoved in her face.
Molly never lets on that she knows. In an abandoned church outside New York City, she pays an ancient witch half of everything she owns to strip the Thorne crest from her skin, erase her scent and trail, and make her flawlessly human. She sets a deadline for her departure: seven days. But the transformation takes a week to prepare, and the witch warns that a single lingering trace of her vampire scent will let the Thorne clan find her.
So Molly must keep playing the devoted, oblivious mate, smiling through Clarence's excuses and his hypocritical concern, while the clock runs down on her escape.
Opening
Clarence, the Vampire Prince, fell for me the moment he laid eyes on me. And I fell for him just as hard, just as hopelessly.
I accepted his Embrace.
The whole dark world knew he loved me more than life itself.
He branded the rune of our blood bond directly over his heart.
That lasted five centuries. Then I got the video from his new blood doll—a human stripper named Seraphina.
She was sprawled naked in his lap, fresh bite marks dotting her throat.
Using her own blood, she’d painted a crude sigil right beside the sacred rune meant only for me.
